Lightwave Bulb Compatibility
All light bulbs used with Lightwave Smart Dimmers must be dimmable. Traditional incadescent bulbs are all dimmable, but you need to make sure LED and CFL bulbs are dimmable. Look for the dimmable logo as in the image on the packagaing.
LED Bulb Compatibility
In the rapid development of LED lighting technology there are no recognised uniform standards for LED lamps / bulbs. Currently this means the performance and technology used in LED lights varies enormously making universal compatibility with dimmer switches difficult to achieve.
Class leading Lightwave Smart Dimmers have been engineered to automatically calibrate to individual lamps (light bulbs) to reduce issues in this area.
Due to this calibration ability the vast majority of LED bulbs perform very well from installation, some LED bulbs can require manual calibration to work correctly. A minority of LED bulbs may need additional lamps to increase the total circuit load to work. However after all this, a few LED lamps can function poorly.
To help you, we have pre-tested LED bulbs to check to see if they work with the Lightwave dimmers, which is in the LED Bulb Compatibility Chart below. The chart is updated and added to regularly but is not an exhaustive list due to the number LED lamps available.

Some Notes
If you cannot get hold of the LED lamps above, then a good rule of thumb is to buy branded LED lamps. From experience do not buy the cheapest LED bulbs as they are more likely to have issues (they are not on the chart!).
Lighwave do not recommend exceeding 60W of LED load per gang (switch) for Lightwave Smart Dimmers, unless exceptions are ahown on the chart above.
Damage to smart dimmers may occur if the LED lamps used are not not dimmable (always check the LED lamp packaging / specifications) or incompatible (Philips Hue). Lightwave strongly recommend adhering to the compatibility chart.
The compatibility chart is for guidance purposes only, highlighting the limited testing completed at Lightwave.
Lighwave and Sockets & Switches make every effort to ensure the information provided about the lamps on this chart is accurate. Due to fluctuations in electrical supply and individual installations Lightwave do not guarantee this chart will work in all situations and will accept no liability against lamps purchased.
